President Trump is deploying ICE to airports to assist short-staffed TSA workers. CNN reports that Trump’s announcement came one day after he threatened to deploy ICE agents if lawmakers failed to reach an agreement regarding Department of Homeland Security funding. The disagreement over DHS funding is what caused the partial government shutdown that’s currently impacting TSA and airport wait times. Trump said ICE agents will do a “fantastic job” via Truth Social.
