Actor Johnny Depp quietly helped his friend Eric Dane, known for Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, during the final months of Dane’s life as he battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Facing mounting medical and living expenses after his diagnosis in April 2025, Dane was reportedly allowed to stay in one of Depp’s Los Angeles homes “basically rent-free,” with Depp telling him to pay what he could or nothing at all.
Dane, who continued advocacy work around ALS during his illness, later died at age 53 surrounded by loved ones. Friends say Depp’s gesture was meant to ease financial pressure and give Dane one less stress while he focused on his health and family.
