U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) detained multiple cruise ship crew members as part of an investigation into child sexual exploitation materials, according to reports.

As reported by Variety, authorities boarded eight cruise ships docked in San Diego between April 23 and April 27 and detained 28 crew members. Officials said 27 of them were linked to the receipt, possession, distribution, or viewing of illegal materials.

The individuals, who are from several countries, are being returned to their home nations, CBP said.

Reports indicate that one of the ships involved was operated by Disney.
