“Scrubs” is back, and Disney is prescribing a rather large dose of outdoor advertising.
The beloved cult classic comedy returned to the airwaves—and 11 million viewers—on Feb. 25 (on ABC, and next day on Hulu). To promote it, Disney whipped up an unusual piece of OOH advertising in Los Angeles: a 3-D “pillboard” that displays the show’s characters inside oversized pill packaging.
Disney collaborated with agency MACH27 (formerly known as WC+A) on the concept, which originated as a key art idea. Disney liked it enough to expand it into a real-world installation designed to grab attention and reinforce the show’s offbeat sense of humor.
