Donald Trump and Lionel Messi met at the White House today as Inter Miami visited for a championship ceremony. 
Inter Miami was there to be honored for winning the 2025 MLS Cup, the first MLS Cup title in club history. The visit happened ahead of Miami’s weekend match against D.C. United. 
During the ceremony, Trump welcomed Messi to the White House, called the team “truly talented people,” and said no American president had ever had the chance to say “Welcome to the White House, Lionel Messi.” Messi presented Trump with a pink Inter Miami ball, and Trump was also given a Miami jersey and a watch before later inviting the team into the Oval Office.
