The chaos after the Knicks game 3 was inevitable: NYC was a powder keg ready to explode. This is not an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for shitty behavior last night - anybody who beat up anyone or stole Spurs jerseys or harassed San Antonio fans are scumbags and trash. But you have to look at the full picture to really understand who is doing this stuff, and why. This is not to say we don’t deserve criticism, it’s more just so we criticize the right people.
Last night the catalyst for the chaos was the Knicks game, so I understand of course why people are making it about the Knicks. But the reality is NYC, on a 90 degeee summer night, the violence pops off every time. There are murders and fights every time the weather spikes and people are outside. Now, factor in like, 20 zillion extra people in the streets m, and proportionally speaking there’s going to be a lot more incidents. And on top of that, Donald Trump is in the mix so tensions are high and security is oppressive, NYC looked and felt like the goddam purge. And as if allllll of that wasn’t enough, you have nuisance streamers in the streets antagonizing and instigating on purpose, TRYING to incite violence and cause a scene.
If you want to criticize this incident, say that NYC is a trash hell hole that’s overcrowded and always on the verge of absolute pandemonium infested with morons desperate for attention and behaving reckless for really any reason they can.
