Actor Eric Dane has died at age 53, less than a year after sharing he had been diagnosed with ALS. He was best known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan on “Grey’s Anatomy” and Cal Jacobs on “Euphoria.” In the months after his diagnosis, Dane used his platform to raise money and awareness for ALS research, including working with advocacy groups and speaking publicly about what living with the disease is like. ALS, short for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive disease that damages the nerve cells that control muscle movement.
