The little boy in this footage had no idea where life was about to take him. 🥹🏆
Ke Huy Quan fled Vietnam as a child and spent about a year in a refugee camp before his family eventually settled in the United States. A few years later, a trip to an open casting call led to his breakout role in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
But as he got older, the roles stopped coming. Quan eventually stepped away from acting and spent years working behind the camera, wondering if the career he dreamed about as a child was already behind him.
Decades later, he gave acting another shot. In 2023, Quan won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Standing onstage with the Oscar in his hands, he thanked his 84-year-old mother watching from home and told her, “Mom, I just won an Oscar!”
Sometimes a dream takes longer than you ever imagined. That doesn’t mean it’s over.
