San Francisco is putting one of its own at the front of the parade.
Olympic superstar Eileen Gu has been named Grand Marshal of this year’s Chinese New Year Parade on March 7.
Born and raised in SF, Gu started skiing in Tahoe as a kid and went on to become the most decorated female freestyle skier in Olympic history.
She won two golds and a silver at the 2022 Winter Olympics, added two more Olympic silvers in 2026, and became the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Games.
She’s also a Stanford student, a global fashion face, and one of the highest-earning female athletes in the world.
Now she’s coming home to lead one of the largest Lunar New Year celebrations outside of Asia.
From Sea Cliff to the Olympic podium to Chinatown.
