🇭🇹 🇵🇱 The Haiti National Team has added the Polish flag to its official kit for the World Cup.
This is not a design error, but a symbol of the friendship between the two peoples that has lasted for centuries🤝
In 1802, Napoleon sent thousands of soldiers from the Polish Legions to the island to suppress the slave rebellion in Haiti. However, many Polish soldiers refused to fight against the Haitians who were struggling for freedom, joined their ranks instead, and fought together against the French army😤
After Haiti gained its independence in 1804, the country’s first leader, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, granted citizenship to the Poles and honored them greatly by defining them in the constitution as the “Blacks of Europe.”
More than 200 years have passed, yet Haiti has not forgotten the solidarity of the Poles. Today, the footballers carry the Polish flag on their kits, keeping alive the memory of the shared struggle for freedom❤️
