After days of complaints (and some compliments), audio streamer Spotify confirmed over the weekend that its new 3D disco ball app icon was just a temporary change—and that its traditional light green logo will be back in a few days.
Spotify rolled out the new look last week as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, but, until Sunday, it hadn’t explicitly said whether it was a temporary or permanent change.
Reviews were mixed on the branding. Some didn’t like the darker color and others said the mirrored ball looked like it was pixelated. But many hailed it as a bold departure from the minimalist looks that tech companies often default to.
