It ended up selling for $175,000 👀
During construction of the new Yankee Stadium, a Red Sox fan working on-site secretly hid a David Ortiz jersey inside freshly poured concrete, hoping it would bring bad luck before the stadium even opened.
At first, the report didn’t add up. Yankees officials checked the original spot and realized no concrete had been poured there that day. But by the next morning, two workers revealed the real location.
Crews then jackhammered through nearly three feet of concrete and pulled out a torn, dust-covered Ortiz jersey from deep inside the foundation.
Instead of turning it into a bigger feud, the Yankees turned it into something positive. They cleaned the jersey, paired it with Yankees gear, and sent both to Boston to be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the Jimmy Fund, the Red Sox’ longtime charity supporting cancer research.
