End of an era.
Tim Cook is stepping down as CEO of Apple and will transition into the role of Executive Chairman later this year.
Cook will remain in the CEO role through the summer before officially handing things over on September 1 to John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.
Ternus has been with the company for 25 years and will also join Apple’s board as part of the transition.
Cook took over as CEO in 2011, following Steve Jobs, and has since overseen one of the most successful runs in corporate history, turning Apple into a multi-trillion-dollar company.
Now, the company is entering its next chapter.
And for the first time in over a decade, it won’t be led by Tim Cook.
