Police have uncovered a large cannabis farm inside a historic Welsh stately home that once hosted King Charles.
Officers raided Plas Glynllifon near Caernarfon after suspecting drug activity, discovering what they described as a “significant grow” spread across around 12 rooms on the top floor. No arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing.
The Grade I listed mansion, which has more than 100 rooms, was once owned by Lord Newborough and hosted events linked to the Prince of Wales’ 1969 investiture. In recent years it has faced failed redevelopment plans, including attempts to turn it into a luxury hotel.
Police said the building’s electrics had been tampered with and water supplies diverted, leaving parts of the property in disrepair as forensic work continues.
