Singer Sia has agreed to pay her estranged husband Daniel Bernad $42,500 per month in child support as part of a divorce settlement filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday.
The payments, which began on April 1, will continue until their son Somersault Wonder Bernad turns 18, or 19 if he is still attending high school full time. Court documents obtained by People and TMZ show that Sia, whose full name is Sia Furler, and Bernad will share joint legal custody of Somersault, who was born on March 27, 2024.
Physical custody will follow a set schedule, with Bernad having the child on holidays including Father’s Day and Hanukkah, and Sia retaining custody on Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas. Sia will also cover expenses for healthcare, extracurricular activities, and private schooling, and is required to maintain a $5 million life insurance policy for her son. Sia first filed for divorce from Bernad in March 2025, citing irreconcilable differences, after three years of marriage.
The proceedings turned contentious in October 2025 when Bernad sought sole custody, alleging in court filings that Sia was “an unfit and unreliable parent struggling with substance abuse and addiction.” In his filing, he claimed the couple had more than $400,000 in monthly expenses and described himself as “financially dependent” on Sia after leaving his career. Sia responded by stating she had been sober for six months and was actively in a recovery programme, and a judge denied Bernad’s emergency custody request at the time.
