Four Canadians are among the passengers stuck on a cruise ship where a suspected hantavirus outbreak has already killed three people. The ship was travelling from Argentina to Antarctica when travellers started getting sick, and now it's anchored near Cape Verde, off the coast of West Africa, waiting for help.
Hantavirus is a rare rodent-borne illness that can sometimes spread between people. According to the World Health Organization, the associated illness of hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome has a fatality rate of up to 50%.
The cruise company says two crew members currently need medical care, but no one else on board seems to be ill.
