Professional rooftoppers Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus illegally climbed the spire of the Empire State Building, unfurled a banner reading, “When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace,” and then Beerkus got down on one knee. She said yes.
The pair are no strangers to extreme urban climbing and were featured in Netflix’s Skywalkers: A Love Story, but this stunt crossed into a highly restricted area and ended with both of them being arrested. Authorities have announced multiple charges, including burglary, criminal trespass and reckless endangerment.
