Erling Haaland has gone viral after admitting he received a DM from Tom Holland inviting him to dinner, and simply ignored it because he had no idea who the actor was. The Manchester City and Norway striker made the confession on the Norwegian interview show A-laget, where he didn't even recognize Holland's name at first, until a voice off-camera shouted "Tom Holland, Spider-Man!"
Once it clicked, Haaland recounted the whole thing, a little sheepishly. "This is a bit embarrassing, to be completely honest," he said. "We were in Monaco at the Formula 1, and then I got a message. I don't watch movies much, so I have no idea who people are. There was one asking if we could go out for dinner, but I'd never seen him, so I didn't bother to answer. I didn't want to answer an unknown person."
The offhand remark delighted fans, who marveled that one of the planet's most famous footballers had left one of its biggest movie stars on read purely out of obliviousness. To his credit, Haaland seems to feel a bit guilty, adding, "I think I'll have to send him a message now." Whether a Haaland-Holland dinner ever happens remains to be seen.
