#HeatedRivalry series creator Jacob Tierney reacted to the harsh criticism that claimed the show has "no plot" and "bad acting." "This show wouldn’t work if any of that were true," Jacob told Variety in a recent interview. "I mean, it just wouldn’t. Nobody would give a s**t about this if the acting was bad, or if there was no story." Adding that the show — based on Rachel Reid's books — "actually requires you to pay attention," Jacob pointed out that viewers shouldn't "be on your phone" the whole time if "you wanna get what it’s doing ... you have to pay attention to it."
