Paramount+ is about to get plussed up even more.
If regulators green-light Paramount’s purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount plans to combine Paramount+ and HBO Max into the same streaming service, CEO David Ellison told investors on a conference call this morning.
It’s unclear what the service will be called (Paramount++?), but Ellison was clear that he intends to preserve the HBO brand and let it operate independently. “HBO should stay HBO,” Ellison said, noting the new streamer would have more than 200 million subscribers.
Netflix has more than 325 million subscribers, for anyone out there keeping score.
