Everybody KEEP YOUR COMPOSURE!! The Donald Trump hype in NYC is OUT OF CONTROL. The city right now is consumed by Trump’s appearance. All the talk is security perimeters and secret service measures being taken. Watch parties canceled and relocated while bars and commuters suffer. As a Knicks fan my first thought was the only thing that can fuck up these vibes is politicizing their run. It’s definitely an unwelcome added distraction.
But all that being said, Trump has gone to MSG for UFC multiple times and it was never a big deal. The stage is bigger and the lights are brighter for the NBA finals as opposed to a UFC PPV, but nonetheless he’s done this before and with a FRACTION of the hoopla. Bottom line is the Knicks are too focused to let this impact them, and I think in all likelihood tonight goes perfectly fine and it’s just annoying extra security measures for everyone. But I don’t think it’s going to be the problem the internet is leading you to believe.
Meanwhile on the other side Victor LIB-BANYAMA who won’t even sell soda to the kids might be affected more than anyone else!
PS - if Donald Trump needed or cared about good publicity this is the PERFECT and easiest good PR ever to just say “I’d love to be there but my first concern is the team and the city and I want them to win and don’t want to be a distraction so we’re gonna cancel this.” But he just does not care
PPS - objectively hilarious he was too busy for his son’s wedding like a week ago but now is going to the Knicks game 😂
