Alex Pereira and his team are pursuing a legal appeal of his TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250, after eating as many as 11 illegal back-of-the-head shots in the second-round finish on the White House South Lawn. Per Nolan King, Pereira spoke for 25 minutes and is adamant Herb Dean errored, adding the veteran ref will never officiate his fights again.
“We’re gonna pursue this legally, we’re gonna talk to our lawyers. The bill is gonna come for some people.”
He also reposted the Prichard Colón video on his story, pointing to the worst-case scenario those strikes can lead to. Colón was a 16-0 Puerto Rican prospect when he took repeated rabbit punches from Terrel Williams in 2015. The ref ignored it. He suffered a brain bleed, fell into a 221-day coma, and a decade later he’s still in recovery.
