Ontario Premier Doug Ford was awarded an honorary doctorate from a U.S. university on Saturday — his first and only post-secondary credential, honorary or otherwise. Ford previously attended Humber College for about two months before dropping out with no diploma.
Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan awarded the premier a Doctor of Humane Letters, which is frequently handed out as an honorary degree to recognize significant, distinguished contributions to society, humanity or philanthropy.
In his commencement speech, Ford praised the close ties between Ontario and Michigan in the auto manufacturing industry but warned Canada-U.S. trade tensions could hurt jobs on both sides of the border.
